I sent my friend a literary text by Fanny Fern called “Folly as it Flies” as evidence of her boyfriend’s archaic views of women. This is why feminism is needed, because some men really do think that the woman’s place is to make babies and not complain when they receive little to know help from their partners. Amazing.

My friend doesn’t deserve the treatment that she is receiving from the father of her child. He is being absent and leaving everything to her. She’s stressed and exhausted and rather than her boyfriend being their for comfort and support, he’s adding to the burden on her shoulders. I’m heartbroken for the state that she’s in and that she’s having to go on this journey of parenthood alone.
